How To Choose Right Lures For Jack Crevalle
If you are looking for a fish that is not so difficult to find, then look no further than the Jack Crevalle. One of the reasons they are so easy to find is because they travel in schools. So once you locate one or two of them, it's very likely that there will be many more in the vicinity.
The Jack Crevalle is also a very fun fish to catch. They are not the toughest fish to catch, nor are they considered rare or endangered or anything like that, but catching one can be an exciting challenge if you don't know what you're doing.
One other reason why they are relatively easy to find is because they eat almost any bait you throw at them. They actually will eat pretty much anything, whether it's alive or dead. And they'll eat lures as well; some anglers like to use top water lures and catch the Jack Crevalle on surface baits.
But the reason we're talking about this fish today is because you want to know how to choose the right lures for Jack Crevalle. Jigs, spoons, surface plugs... anything you want to use will work out fine if you know what you're doing.
But because this article is about how to choose the right lures for them, we'll focus on live bait and artificial lures. So let's see what lures you need to use for that.
For live bait, something like a small shrimp or an anchovy will work great. They don't have very good eyesight and won't see your live bait very well, especially if it's moving. So by far the best approach is not to try and hide your bait but to make it as visible as possible. That's why you need to use a small shrimps or an anchovy, something very tiny and light so your bait is still moving fast and getting noticed by the Jack Crevalle even if it looks like it's in plain sight.
For artificial lures, again some jigs will work fine for this fish. Of course, the smaller the jig the better. And just like with live bait, it's best to use something very light so you can see your lures in the water easily and keep them moving fast enough for the Jack Crevalle to notice it.
Because these fish travel in schools but are not considered rare or endangered, finding them is relatively easy. The trick is to choose the right bait or lure that will attract them and not other species, which can be difficult if you don't know what you're doing.
