How To Tie Berkley Braid Knot

If you have tried to tie a regular clinch knot on a braided line, chances are you have had your blood pressure rise at least once. Just Google "tight clinch braid" and see what comes up. When I started fishing for Striped Bass I found my self in one of those situations, my regular clinch knot just would not hold tight on my Berkley Fireline. I started doing some research and found a knot called the Berkley Braid Knot. This knot has been specifically designed to work with braided lines.

The Berkley Braid Knot is basically a clinch knot with an extra tuck. The key to tying this knot is making sure that the braid is tight against the eye of the hook. If you have a lot of braid sticking out past the eye of the hook, it will not hold as well.

To tie the Berkley Braid Knot, follow these simple steps:

1. Double over about 6 inches of line and make a loop, holding the braid against the mainline (pic. 1)

2. Make a second loop and hold it against the first (pic. 2)

3. Thread the end of the line through the two loops (pic. 3)

4. Wet the line and tighten the knot by pulling on both ends of the line (pic. 4)

5. Trim off the excess line (pic. 5)

The Berkley Braid Knot is a great knot to use with braided line, because it is easy to tie and holds tight. Give it a try the next time you are fishing for Striped Bass!
