Best Ice Fishing Fish Finders

 Everyone who uses warm water to fish knows that ice fishing is a much different experience than the traditional method of reeling in lunkers from the back of a boat. Ice fishing equipment can get expensive, and it's easy to get carried away with your purchases if you're not careful. But there are some items, such as an ice fishing fish finder, that are necessities rather than luxury.



Nowadays more of the larger fishing companies offer ice fishing fish finders in the $300 to $400 price range (those who want to dig deep can try their luck at finding an older model for less). These products come with full color screens and great quality depth readings, but what you get in functionality you lose in size. Portable ice fishing fish finders are around the same price, but all of them lack one feature or another.

So what's an angler to do? The best alternative is to buy older ice fishing fish finders. You can spend less than $100 and still get a quality product that comes with every feature you could ever want (assuming the product is still in good condition). Features to Look For:

Depth readings – You want at least 16ft of depth coverage (more is better)

Alerts – Make sure you can program alerts to go off if something is over a certain depth

Digital zoom – Zoom in on the display so you know what is lurking below the surface

High and low frequency – Allows for better overall readings Even though I've searched far and wide, it's impossible for me to find every ice fishing fish finder.
